On the 6th of January 2014, Dencia, a Cameroonian-
Nigerian Pop singer released her controversial “Whitenicious” a skin lightening cream. According
to the cream’s websites, Whitenicious is a “fast acting, seven day dark spot
remover” that is “a moisturizing and rich with powerful natural ingredients
that will nourish your skin and lightened dark knuckles, knees and elbows”.
Dencia came up with the name “Whitenicious” because she believes white “affects
the mind and body by aiding in mental clarity, promoting feelings of fresh
beginnings and renewal, assisting ion cleansing, clearing obstacles and clutter
and encouraging purification”, adding that dark spots and hyperpigmentation are
obstacles. From the looks of Dencia’s own skin, she has been using the cream to
transform her complexion from deep mahogany to vampire white.

Dear readers do you think Whitenicious is okay to be used as
a personal body lotion or should it be avoided?
