DENCIA’S RESPONSE TO CRITICS

During an interview with Ebony Magazines, the US based Nigerian/Cameroonian Pop singer, Dencia said she came up with the lotion formula together with a chemist from Switzerland. She claimed her aim is to help is to help people with hyperpigmentation issues and dark spot, to have a clear skin. She stated that it was after she had tested it on her sisters and some of her Facebook friends, who attested to the fact that it really works, she decided to launch the brand.

“Whitenicious”, she claims does not have hydroquinone, steroids nor mercury, which are harsh and harmful chemicals for the skin. She also claims that she had never been a very dark skin person and that she was tanned in the picture of her in the animal print bikini and so her skin has not drastically lightened as the people circulating those photos had made it look. On matters as to whether whitenicious will bleach the skin, she admitted that it would but added that she cannot control how people use the lotion. If they decide to buy the cream to be used as their personal body lotion, it is their money to spend. She also claims that to the best of her knowledge, there is no medical research to prove that whitening the skin could cause cancer and other that if that was the case, there were also other things that causes cancer such as the air we breathe, so we are all at risk. She claims that body lotions cannot stop melanin because it comes from inside the body and not externally. Her product cost up to $150 for a small container.

EFFECTS OF WHITENICIOUS

Whitenicious has been said to have certain effects when used. Below are some of these effects and what expects are saying about the lotion.

POSITIVE

According to the official Whitenicious website it looks like it does not have any harsh bleaching ingredient and chemicals. Some of the advantages are high contents of Vitamin E and C, dark spot remover, and deals with hyperpigmentation.

NEGATIVE

Promotional photos of Dencia on the official whitenicious look too good to be true. It is scientifically impossible for the skin of an African woman from a cream that it barely a moisturizer and does not backed up in any way by a thorough clinical study. According to the Experts’ opinion, the temporary skin lightening effect is a result of Vasoconstriction that is, basically restricting the blood flow to the vital organs. Prolong topical steroids had many well-known adverse effects to include renal (kidney) failure and susceptibility to melanoma, which is the most dangerous form of cancer. This past January, a lot of speculations have been received that it may lead to skin cancer. Users of Whitenicious who posted on www. Skincaretalk.com to voice complains about the cream causing headaches, pimples and unwanted facial hair are well known of topical steroids use. The damaging prolong effects of steroids used on human skin has been well documented by credible medical research agencies to include Harvard Medical school.
